I've currently got an old Waveline 270 with slatted floor and it weighs a ton. My old petrol outboard is also getting less and less reliable so I am looking for a new package that must be light, easy to set up and pack away and a decently powerful motor.
The EZraft appears to be super light, is it robust and actually any good?
Hi Paul,
We think that the EZraft range are really good use them ourselves one hell of a lot. We use ours on our Crabber 26 sailing boat and it is very easy to setup using the automatic portable pump and it is so light we can just drop it over the side with no effort.
When it comes to getting it back on boars I simply lift it up and in with one arm and the it deflates really easily (the pump can also suck air out) and it does go back in the bag really easily. It really does!
We use the 300 and have gone up in size from the 270 we normally used - we actually had a Waveline 270 years ago as well and it was really hard work. We then moved to a Takacat 270LX which was far better and find the EZ Q300 is the best tender we've ever had.
It is definitely robust as the boat outer is made of Dacron and sails are pretty tough!
We currently mainly use the Momentum U2 2.5kW motor and on the Q300 have seen well over 10 knots on the GPS with just me onboard which I think is pretty impressive.
We are just building up some FAQ's on the EZraft range and you will start seeing them arrive on here shortly.
The EZraft is very easily moved around though so literally any electric outboard will work well with it - we just need to consider your specific use case and requirements to see if you might need (or want) some more oomph.
If you'd like a demo on the water or just to take a look, drop us a line and we can make an appointment.

Hi,
I would also be interested to know what kind of engines work for the EZRaft - also short or long shaft.
On their website it says that long shafts aren’t required.
Also, did anyone try the EZraft Q330 with a bigger engine, like 6kW momentum outboard, maybe?
obviously not recommended by the supplier.
Hi 72volt,
EZraft are updating their website to reflect the real world experience of us and other suers that they perform best without doubt using the long shaft Momentum U2.
This is due to the fact that the EZraft are very light but buoyant boats that sit very high on the water and with the large tubes projecting out the back of the boat beyond the transom it does not sit down in the water.
Combined with the higher speeds possible with the power of the U2, we have found that the short shaft cavitates a lot but the long shaft it is almost completely eliminated.
By using a tiller extension (available in mid/late summer 2026) or using your finger tips on a Q300, the boat can pop over the bow wave and sit flat and plane really easily.
I've personally seen well over 10 knots on the GPS on a Q300 and around 12 knots on a 360.
We will be putting out some videos as soon as we can to demonstrate the U2 at higher speeds on a Q300.
I've put a Momentum M10 on the Q360 and it was one of the more ludicrous I have done in a long history if idiocy....
The boat is only rated to 5hp so this was really rather dim and I had to be careful to shred the transom but the strap supports worked really well and having the battery slightly forward of middle was perfect - strongly tied on to the straps on the deck and the tubes as I didn't really fancy it going backwards rapidly and taking the transom clean off....
Incredible acceleration as you might expect even feeding it in gently and at around 18+ knots it was wild but I think only pulling very low power still.
Great fun, but definitely a short trip the funeral home beckons....

Thank you Algie.
did the M10 have a long shaft or very long shaft when you had the insane (☺️) trip?
I was thinking if an M6 could just still be manageable on a Q360.
The M10 indeed sounds a bit crazy 😀
The idea of the M6 is that you could probably get on a plane with 3 adults.
not so much for top top speed.
Did anyone try an M6 as well?
Ah M10 all the way and feed in the acceleration a little more carefully than I did...
I had a short shaft on it
The transom on the EZraft will take a real hammering from the torque and with repeated use will almost certainly fail as it WAY beyond the design parameters for it.
However, we are looking into having the transom uprated so the largest 360 at least could potentially be used with the M10. With various other mods as well it will create a package that is properly capable of higher powered motors.
