The Momentum U2 is a 2.5kW / 5hp electric outboard manufactured by Momentum Electric Marine. It's part of the new generation of electric outboards; still portable and a similar weight to the smaller 1kW / 3hp electric outboards that we're used to, but with 1.5x the power output! The U2 weighs just 40.5 pounds in the short shaft version (20.5 lbs shaft, 17.5 lbs battery, 4.5 lbs bracket), features cable free connections between the motor and battery, and has a separate transom bracket.
Please keep in mind that this testing was done on a pre production unit; check back to this description for any updates or corrections.

The Momentum U2 supercharges the small, portable consumer electric outboard market.
Lighter than most 1kW units it has 2.5 x times more power as standard with a larger 1.4Kwh battery.
Have no concerns with adverse conditions, tides and current - the U2 will get you there and back with no problems!
The motor weighs only 9kg and the battery 8kg making it incredibly easy to take on and off your main boat - passing it up and down to the mothership is a breeze!
The separate transom bracket can remain on the tender and you can easily store the motor and battery for security.
Its quick-swap integrated battery and robust construction make it the perfect electric outboard for tenders, day sailers and small workboats.
Its cable-free design, detachable battery with integrated trip computer and lightweight motor make it hugely portable – but not at the expense of performance.
In tests with one person on board a Takacat T300LX at an average speed of 3 knots, the U2 lasted for over 9 hours and travelled almost 30 nautical miles. Using the full power function, it got up to 8 knots.
The results from using it on an Ezraft Q360 were even more impressive, running for over 18 hours and 55 nautical miles at 3 knots and getting to a top speed of 9 knots.
Eco mode is used as standard giving around 2 1/2 hours use but the full continuous 2.5kW power can be easily accessed by pressing the safety button on the tiller.
External batteries can also be used and these facilitate even higher 3kW continuous power - ideal for using on your larger sailboat.
This motor can be used on your tender or as an auxiliary motor on your rib or larger sailing boat.
Also deal for many fishing boats, the duration and power combined with the almost silent power delivery won't scare away the fish and enable you to go further and faster to those hard to reach fishing spots!
