It's part of the new generation of ...electric outboards; still portable and a similar weight to the smaller 1kW / 3hp electric outboards that we're used to, but with 1.5x the power output! We are very excited for this new motor as it is lightweight, powerful and at an affordable price point. The short-shaft version weighs just 40.5 lbs total, including the shaft (20.5 lbs), battery (17.5 lbs), and bracket (4.5 lbs). It also features cable-free connections between the motor and battery, plus a separate transom bracket for easy installation and removal.

That is the point of the U2: it is a portable 2.5kW / 5HP-equivalent electric outboard that still looks and lifts like a compact tender motor, but it has the extra continuous power to keep going when wind, current, and waves start eating a lesser 1–2kW motor.
Most portable electric outboards in the 1kW–2kW class are fine on a flat morning. The problem shows up when the sea stands up, the dinghy is loaded, or you need to punch an outgoing tide.
